Emilie Stevens does not like change. So when her grandmother suggests changing up Easter tradition by inviting her neighbor's family - including her neighbor's sloppy grandson, Blake - and spending the weekend in a lake house in Texas, Emilie is anything but on board with the idea.

Blake and Emilie may have known of each other their whole lives, but they've never really spent time together. She's a worry wart who lives life on the straight and narrow. He's an adventure seeker always on the go. One Easter their families take a trip together and Emilie and Blake find that maybe they're more compatible than they would have thought.I would say more but then I'd give the entire book away. I know it's a "Novella" but that was the shortest thing I've ever read. It should really be called an article or short story. I'm pretty sad I paid $2.99 for that. I loved what I read- don't get me wrong. It's got Erynn Mangum's normal humor (though not as much as in other books) and it keeps Scripture and God at the forefront of the relationship, but it's just the beginning of a book. About another 150 pages and it'd be a satisfying book. ;-)

Erynn Mangum's short stories have been enjoyable reads, both "Fish and Chips" and "The Christmas Watch" were awesome miniatures that immediately drew you in to the character's lives and relationships. Unfortunately "Easter Carats" wasn't as good. The relationship moved too quickly, it was built on nothing but good looks (not really sure that the MC had any qualities besides looks to recommend herself), and you certainly didn't feel like there was any reason for there to be carats by next Easter as the end of the book causes you to wonder. Overall it was just fine, but definitely not Mangum's best. I would recommend her other short stories before this one.
Erynn Mangum never disappoints, LOVED IT! The crazy grandmas added an awesome twist ) cant wait to read her next series!!
I don't know how the author made me fall in love with the characters in such a short amount of time, but she really did! I am a sucker for Christian romance, and if you are too, please read this novella!
I always enjoy Erynn Mangum's books. This was a fun read!!!! I read it at Easter and liked her play on words with the title.
I just love every single one of erynn mangum's books. i could read her books all day long. Im looking forward to her next book paige torn.
As always, erynn kept me interested throughout the whole book while keeping and promoting good Christian morals. I also like the fact that this book kept me entertained, but not with a bunch of soap opera type drama that most books have to use to keep the reader interested. Good book!!! Thanks Erynn.
This sweet novella is made up of all the things that make Erynn Mangum one of my favorite authors funny one liners, strong and well-developed characters, and a Biblical truth presented without being "preachy". Emilie is a by-the-books kind of girl while Blake is a relaxed guy. After a lifetime of avoiding each other, they are thrown together for a weekend with their families at a lake house, the two find that maybe they aren't so different.
Told in Erynn's unique voice, this short story is a quick, fun, summer read.
