When Minerva Day’s grandson turns up missing at a Christmas carnival, her daughter accuses Minerva of his murder. Could she have done such a thing? Had she forgotten to take her medicine? The unnerving thought haunts Minerva, just like it did four years earlier when her husband died of a mysterious illness. Then Walter, a new love, brings balance into Minerva’s life. But it is short-lived—her daughter won’t let go of the nagging suspicions that her mother is guilty of the most horrendous of crimes.

"Christie Keele writes with an impressive honesty and clarity about the complexities of motherhood and marriage. Her debut novel combines unsolved murder, family drama and occasional bouts of insanity to produce a disturbing page turner. Minerva Day is a character who will stay with you long after the book's compelling conclusion."
Laura Brodie, author of The Widow's Season and All the Truth

"Minerva Day puts a new twist on the complexity of family relationships--especially during a crisis. Yet the community seems oblivious to the undercurrents. A good read."
Lonna Enox, author of The Last Dance

Minerva Day edition by Christie Keele Bryce Dishongh Page Lambert Literature Fiction eBooks

I chose this rating because I feel the book had a decent storyline, but it was so choppy and poorly written, that it left more questions unanswered than it should have. It jumped around a lot, and the characters, while interesting, lacked depth, and again, more questions were raised about why they were the way they were than were ever clearly answered in the book.Once finished, I was more disturbed by the unanswered plot twists than I was the subject matter.

Minerva Day edition by Christie Keele Bryce Dishongh Page Lambert Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Minerva Day is certainly a "character" in many ways. Christie does a FINE job in weaving her characters and their lives together in believable fashion. I sometimes read for sheer entertainment and to "unstress" and this book certainly did it for me. Can't wait for the sequel.
One of the strangest books I have ever read!
Pretty good story. Sometimes it drags, but it does have its high points.
If you are looking for a book to read while relaxing, this is it. I enjoyed the storyline very much.
This story goes nowhere at all. Just scene after scene that makes no sense, that don't tie together in any way. Don't be fooled by the great reviews, they are fake.
I really tried to like this book but it was so depressing! Nothing much changed as I slogged through it, and I finally gave up at 79%. By that time, frankly, I didn't care what happened to any of the characters or what the outcome would be.
I bought this book because the author lives near me. However, I was really disappointed with it. First, very little seems to happen in the story. One would think that a book about a child being kidnapped and killed would have some excitement or drama to it. Nope. And second, I couldn't stand any character in the book. All the main characters were mean and ill-tempered or vague and without definition. By the end of the book, I didn't care if everyone fell off the planet an died. I hate that. I would rather enjoy a book and not be angry by the end.
